Residual Solvents

Residual solvents are another trace level contaminant that could be in a sample. This includes both synthetically created compounds and botanical extracts. Many solvents are used in the synthesis process of every chemical compound out there. The final purifications steps usually remove these solvents, but sometimes they are rushed or not done properly. This can lead to residual solvents being left in the sample. Some of these solvents can be class 1 or 2, which are harmful to human health. This is why it is crucial to test every batch to ensure these harmful solvents are not left behind. Here at Omnient Labs, we spent a year developing our own residual solvent methods on our headspace gas chromatograph. These methods were done to the highest level and were validated and verified by independent auditors. We are one of only a handful of labs in the US that can do trace level residual solvent testing, and have those methods on our ISO/IEC 17025:2017 scope.
